Holobot is an internal technical research and development project.

– Prove point cloud data could be stored, and reused across multiple mobile devices
– Use that point cloud data effectively to provide an engaging multi-user experience
– Display continuous 3D and 2D content in Augmented Reality across multiple devices with perfect continuity using the shared data
– Demonstrate the reduction of Augmented Reality “drift” on mobile devices

We created a multiplayer mobile game to demonstrate these necessary milestones in Unity, Maya, and some proprietary libraries in C# and Objective C.

The game was demonstrated at key events with a lot of interest, and we have been pushed to consider releasing it as a product. Holobot was one of our first technical demonstrations, and largely because of the stable multiplayer code, and lack of AR drift, it remains relevant today.
